Festivals in Chandigarh Engineering Colleges

Chandigarh, often termed as the City Beautiful, is home to some of the best engineering colleges in North India. Of late, the city has also started attracting students from all over India. Established in 1921, PEC University of Technology is one of the oldest 

Engineering colleges in Chandigarh.

Apart from academics, PEC University of Technology is well known for its cultural and technical fests that are celebrated on a grand scale. Known as PecFest and Vyom, these are the two major cultural festivals celebrated in this institute.

PecFest

PecFest is the cultural festival organized by the students of this institute. It is a 3-day cultural extravaganza where numerous colleges participate not only from Chandigarh or north India, but from across the country. The festival is an ideal platform for students to showcase their talent in activities like dance, drama, music, photography, graffiti making. Other activities include face painting, kite flying and scrabble. The fest also organizes a beauty pageant.

Hundreds of participants, including both engineering and non-engineering students compete in the various events that are conducted by the fest organizers. Events like quiz competition, pot painting are also organized. Active enthusiasts sometime organize a small film festival.

Adventure lovers can find their share of happiness by participating in events like rappelling and rock climbing. On the final day, the fest organizes a rock band performance followed by a celebrity performing an event. The 3-day gala festival is an event which is worth participating. 

Vyom

Vyom, the technical festival organized by the PEC University of Technology, is one of the biggest technical festivals. It is one of the best among all the engineering colleges in Chandigarh. The 3-day event offers a platform for all the students to showcase their talent. Events like Eclectica – Research Paper Presentation, workshops on Robotics, Electronics and other such events comprise Vyom. Notable personalities from the industry visit the gala event to address future engineers of the country.

Apart from the above mentioned activities, the students of the college also collaborate with NGOs like Goonj to help donate waste papers to a recycling plant. A noble gesture towards the environment, it is worth mentioning. It can be said that the two events, PecFest and Vyom are the best festivals organized by the educational intuitions of Chandigarh.
