A booming
industry, there is immense scope for career opportunities in the field of
animation. The following blog post takes a look at the same.
How many of us are actually in awe when we see Tintin along
with Snowy trudging through the hilly terrains of Tibet in search of his dear
friend Chang; or for that matter the idiosyncrasies of Captain Jack Sparrow who
has to be rescued from the clutches of Davy Jones’ Locker – we are definitely
enthralled by the fantasy world. Blockbuster movies like Chronicles of Narnia, Pirates
of the Caribbean, Ice Age and others are striking examples of the miracles that
animation can create.
Despite an economic downturn and a late entry into the
Indian market, animation industry has grown to a large extent where students
with a degree in animation can actually carve out a niche for themselves in the
industry. Moving on to a path of expansion, the animation industry is expected
to continue with the boom in the near future. Gradually with 2D and 3D films
being made in India, the scope for animation and animators has increased to a
large extent.
The best way to foray into the industry is to opt for a
degree or a diploma in animation. However, a graduate degree is not much
prevalent in India. Therefore, students can pursue a diploma in animation.
There are several animation colleges in India that offer courses in the field. One
can pursue a course in animation right after completing 10+2.
If a student has a Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA), it is of
added advantage in the field of animation. Fine arts give a good push to the
field of animation.
One of the fastest growing industries in India, the sector
requires at least 30,000 skilled animators. Some institutes where students can
opt for a diploma are
- Arena Animation - centres in New Delhi, Pune, Chandigarh, Nagpur and others.
- Picasso Animation, New Delhi
- Gecko Animation, New Delhi
- Animation Boom
- TGC Animation and Multimedia
A booming industry, there is good scope for employment
opportunities in the field of animation.
