The
Christ College was acknowledged by the UGC
of India in the year 1972 on 17th June. It was recognized by NAAC, a body funded by UGC in 1998. The college was the first college
to be recognized by NAAC for its excellent education in Karnataka. It is presently
rated as an A institute by NAAC and has been acknowledged as the potential
college of excellence.
The
campus of the Christ
University stretches over a sprawling area of twenty five acres which is
a fraction of the campus of the Dharmaram College in Bangalore. In the year 2009,
the University came up with a new campus spreading over an area of 75 acres at
Kengeri. The area is on the Mysore highway which presently has the Faculty of
Engineering, PU residential college and the Christ University Institute of
Management (CUIM).
The
university is totally dedicated to its mission of providing excellent services
for the overall progress of the students. The infrastructure of this institute
is par excellence and the education imparted by its devoted faculty is also
amazing. The university enrolls close to a three thousand students each year
and has ninety six full-time courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Among the students in the campus, 10% of them are NRIs and students from
different corners of the world.
The Christ University has a
well-equipped hall to accommodate 2000 people. There is also a huge cafeteria
in the premises of the college and a hostel to accommodate women as well. There
are a number of clubs for students in the college where one can participate in
a number of activities. The university is also responsible for looking after
the education of the children of the slum in Rajendarnagar. The university
hosts a yearly college fest which they call ‘In Bloom’ and a talent hunt contest
called Darpan. The person who wins the competition gets to collaborate with the
literary team and represent the college at intercity festivals organised by the
other colleges. There is an internal event called ‘Blossoms’ as well that takes
place between the departments. For students who are sport enthusiasts, they can
be a part of the inter-college event called’ Chrispo’ in which they can compete
in games like football, volleyball, and handball.
The students
always maintain decorum and discipline both inside and outside the university.
Anybody found guilty of misbehavior on the campus is likely to be expelled.
There is a certain code of conduct that needs to be followed in the campus.
Things like protecting the property of the campus, keeping the area neat and
clean and being dressed up properly are things that are mandatory in the campus.
The dress code for the boys is more or less the usual that is of full pants and
shirts. Low-waist pants with multiple pockets are not permitted at all. As far
as the girls are concerned, they are supposed to dress up in a decent manner.
In order to preserve the culture and tradition of India, the students are
expected to avoid clothes that tight fitted, translucent, or revealing. The
campus of the university is fully enabled with Wi-Fi. The students can easily
access internet with the help of a username and password.
Christ
University can easily boast of a global approach towards education. The
University has exceptional amenities and keeps regularly reinventing itself to
offer quality education.
